H.E.A.T- Into The Great Unknown
H.E.A.T’s fifth studio album caught me off guard at first. I think the past three albums, H.E.A.T has gone through many lineup changes. ‘Address the Nation’, brought us the first taste of Erik Gronwall. He is fantastic and one of the best singers of this day. Then Dave Dalone, (guitar) left the band before ‘Tearing Down the Walls’. Eric Rivers (guitar) left for, ‘Into the Great Unknown’ and Dave Dalone came back. With all the changes the albums have had a slight progression.
Again, I was caught off guard at first with this album. I was nervous that this album wouldn’t connect with me like the past four albums. I wondered if H.E.A.T had hit their plateau? Was Eric Rivers the key to H.E.A.T’s success? I had to walk away for a few days for my thoughts to be clearer. I kept listening, and I realized it was H.E.A.T, the same sound I fell in love with. They brought us an amazing melodic rock album in 2017. Yes, I believe many fans might be taken back by the different mood in their album, and to those who might be worried; listen again, it is good.
I must say, congratulations to the band for going with their gut. It will be well worth it. It is not the same album as ‘Tearing Down the Walls’, and that is exactly what we want. H.E.A.T got out of their comfort zone and made a complete album. I believe they will bring in many new fans because of these songs.
My favorite songs are; ‘Best of the Broken’, ‘Eye of the Storm’, and ‘Redefined’. Everything on the album is solid and very well done. I love how H.E.A.T records their albums. They do it the old school way. They go to a distant land, lock up somewhere with the band, and record. If you haven’t had a chance, check out their YouTube page and check out their Studio Diaries of their albums.
I am really excited to see how fans respond to this album. I sure enjoy it and will add it to my collection of amazing melodic rock albums. It seems H.E.A.T are here to stay. Make sure to check out their pages and album. Releases September 22, 2017.
